Kelvin Evans - Co-founder BINAPRO - Class of 2015
What sparked your interest regarding starting a business?
My interest in business was sparked the summer before my senior year. I was invited to a meeting where I was not only exposed to network marketing but I was introduced to a new reality. One where anything was possible if you just believed. The craziest things is that everyone there was young just like me. After that meeting My life has never been the same.
Why did you choose this particular business to start?
I knew that I wanted to go big. I also knew that I wanted to impact as many people as possible. When this business was an infant (or just an idea) I knew that my team and I could impact the world of innovators and creators in way that has yet to be seen. The infant (idea) began to grow and become Binapro. Binapro is a social networking platform designed primarily for business professionals to create, work on, and launch innovative projects.
Why Binapro Exists:
Binapro believes that people who manifest the purest form of innovation are mandatory for solving the world’s inefficiencies; ranging from improving consumer experiences to eliminating 3rd world hunger. Binapro is dedicated to establishing a “no excuse” culture. Want to change the world? Binapro! Want to turn your idea into a reality? Binapro! Want to cement your legacy? Binapro!
How has the OPRF School of Business assisted in your decision to start and run your business?
The OPRF School of Business has molded me into a man that has not just the desire but the skills to run a business. They’ve help me grow myself into a true entrepreneur. The OPRF School of Business was never held back by realism and neither were its students. I truly benefited from that. They helped me find my purpose and without my mentors I would have faded away with time and left no legacy. Now, I know I will succeed and I will make sure the OPRF School of Business will enjoy my success and the success of my fellow students.
If you could tell all the OPRF School of Business students something about being an entrepreneur, what would it be?
Greatness is not this god-like, elusive, far-fetched quality that only a few among us will ever have. Greatness is within all of us! We just have to tap into it, have faith, and believe that anything is possible!
You don’t just want to work with people that need what you provide, you want to work with people that believe what you believe! ~ Simon Sinek
Take advantage of the OPRF School of Business!!!
What would you tell students who have not taken a class in the OPRF School of Business?
Just have a conversation with one of the business teachers, let them talk to you about the classes, past students and the experiences the classes offer. If you find you’re too cool for that just take Small Business Management and then you’ll be hooked!
What drives you to succeed?
I have a competitive spirit that drives me to be better than the best person. I also have a love of innovation and creation, business is just my outlet for that. The main thing for me is that I always want more and I’m just always itching for what’s next. I have to scratch it!
What are any takeaways from your education in the OPRF School of Business that you utilize in your business?
I learned how to trust those that I work with and how to empower them to lead. To have authority isn’t enough, you must get people to believe in you as a true leader. Also I learned to be more resourceful. I may not have had everything I wanted but I’ve always had enough. The list goes on and on but most importantly I learned that understanding is everything when dealing with people, especially when you are talking point.
What is your most memorable OPRF School of Business experience?
My most memorable moment was my biggest failure, otherwise known as my greatest learning experience all year. I was entrusted to lead the class as project manager to raise money for a child named Greco Roman Bouzakis with brain cancer. I raised roughly $2,500 for him but the other class I competed against doubled that amount for a different. So, it is true that I lost the contest but at the end of the day I helped out that child and that was so real and I learned so much from that experience. I will never forget that experience!
Where would you like to see the OPRF School of Business in 5 years?
OPRF School of Business will be the rival even the greatest collegiate business programs. The students will surpass its predecessors every year. Former students will always come back to help out. I see OPRF School of Business making history, breaking status-quo and on the cover of Forbes!
